Against an estimated potential of 12 million biogas plants , about 3.44 million family type plants have been set up so far, representing coverage of about 28% of the potential. In addition, about 4000 night soil based bio gas plants have been set up. These plants have helped save 44 lakh tones fuel wood , produced 450 lakh tones of manure every year.
